P*o*r*n Addiction

Who is affected by porn? I was first given porn when I was eight years old by my uncle.  He thought it would help me grow up and become a man.  I still do not understand his thought process on this topic.  How did being infected (because porn is like a pandemic virus that infects all that come in contact with it), by porn have a positive effect on my life?

What porn did to me was corrupt my view and opinion of women: Women are supposed to be young, compliant, quiet, willing to do whatever I want, whenever I want it and never ask for anything.  Women are supposed to have flawlessly beautiful bodies, without any deformities or physical problems.  They are emotionally void of judgments, opinions or anything that opposes my wants or desires.  They must be a good listener that fulfills every lust.  These are only a few of the things that porn infected my imagination and life with.  Does this sound familiar to your experiences with porn?

I discovered that I could embrace porn anytime I desired—morning, evening, night, at home, on the road, in my imagination, on my laptop, desktop, smartphone, ebook reader or almost any electronic device.  The unique part is that porn is available all the time.  More people access porn on a daily basis than all other inquires on the internet.

Why did I indulge in porn?  Was it because I felt rejected, abandoned, ignored, powerless, controlled, shamed or guilty? These are only a few of the harsh realities of the pain that porn can produce. I have experienced many of these issues in my life. Maybe you have too, and perhaps you never connected the dots back to the core issues.

Did you know that a person can be addicted to porn within 3 seconds of exposure?  Exposure brings opportunity for thoughts and fantasies, which usually leads to action–resulting in addiction.

So how does porn’s influence start?  It can be curiosity, abuse, involuntary exposure, or inappropriate parental exposure. The methods are many and all have harmful results. Are you struggling with out of control thoughts, fantasies or behaviors?  Are you weary of fighting this battle in your life?  Face the truth before it destroys your life.
